Guilford ad Coram Streets
Need some more? Two other guesthouse-crammed streets jut off from the other side of Russell Square. The first is Guilford Street, which is a block before Bernard Street, and which runs between the Hotels Russell and President-two imposing and expensive establishments that overlook the square. On Guilford Street, your best bet will be the Hotel Arundale, 80-81 Guilford Street. Alternatively, try the Dutchrun Hotel Amsterdam, 78 Guilford Street.
Other guest houses on Guilford Street are acceptable, but generally don't compare to the establishments on Bernard Street. Further up Russell Square, however, you'll find Coram Street (just opposite the Royal Hotel), where there's a larger selection of quite excellent hotels-in-Georgian-townhouses. The Avalon Private Hotel, 31 Coram Street, is undoubtedly the best of these-Iarge, with a sharp reduction for children sharing their parents' room; many, many single rooms here. Close behind the Avalon comes the spanking-clean Roma House Hotel, 34 Coram Street.
